Interview with Ram Dayama, CEO of ECON Machinery
Q. Please tell us about your current role. What are your key focus areas and responsibilities?
A. As CEO of ECON Machinery Pvt. Ltd., my primary role is to drive strategic growth, foster
innovation, and establish strong brand positioning. I focus on identifying new business
opportunities, advancing product development, and maintaining market leadership. My
responsibilities also include strengthening customer relationships, overseeing financial planning,
and leading my team to success. Ultimately, I am committed to ensuring the long-term
sustainability and profitability of the company through informed strategic decisions and
continuous innovation.
Q. In your opinion, what do you consider to be the greatest development in the plastics
compounding sector in recent years?
A. . The greatest recent development in plastics compounding is the shift toward
sustainability, including increased use of recycled materials, the growth of bioplastics, eco-friendly
additives, and the rise of smart plastics with enhanced properties.
Q. What special opportunities and challenges do you see in the Indian market compared to
other regions?
A. . In India, opportunities include growing demand from sectors like automotive and
packaging, cost-effective production, a focus on sustainability, and strong government support.
Challenges include evolving regulations, waste management issues, limited infrastructure for
advanced compounding, and price sensitivity in the market.
Q. How do you see the sector developing in the next five to ten years? How are customer
requirements changing?
A. . In the next 5-10 years, the sector will focus on sustainability, with increased use of
recycled materials and bioplastics. Customers will demand more eco-friendly solutions, greater
customization, and a balance between cost and performance.
Q. You will be speaking at the Recycling and Compounding Expo in India, could you give us a
preview of what you will be talking about?
A. . At the Expo, I'll share tips on optimizing pelletizing systems, focusing on improving pellet
quality, enhancing efficiency, leveraging advanced technology, and troubleshooting common
issues to boost productivity and product consistency.
